The Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is a comprehensive evaluation performed by a physical therapist to determine the functional ability of an injured worker. The evaluation is closely correlated to the essential functions of the individual's job and is helpful in determining:

  • Lifting Ability
  • Consistency of Effort
  • Ability to Bend, Stoop, Carry, Push, Pull, Walk, Sit or Stand
  • Ability to Manipulate Objects
  • Grip Strength
  • Postural Stances and Coordination

Many physicians find this evaluation useful when setting permanent restrictions and limitations. It can also be useful in determining validity issues. This test can be scheduled with or without a physician's request by calling (865)-687-4537.
